Old Artwork

September 26, 2004

This is some artwork that Song Shen and I did shortly after I bought my Wacom drawing tablet about two months ago. (It cost me about US$100).

I decided to upload them as Flash files (.SWF documents) because this way they’re resizable and you can zoom in on them and stuff. The filesizes are still pretty small.

This first one is a drawing of my apartment building. I was testing out the pressure sensitive variable thickness capability of the pen, as well as using different color shades for shadows. In my artistic genius, I somehow forgot that the two buidlings are actually connected. Oops. Check it.

This is me practicing letter shading by copying, adding a layer underneath, and changing the color. ANGRYYYYY!!! I drew this one for Song Shen. Awwwww

Here’s Song Shen’s contribution. Guanyin is the Buddhist goddess (buddha?) of mercy. Be sure to right click and zoom in to get the detail. She used “hairline” to draw it (whether by accident or genius we’ll never know), so as you zoom in the lines don’t get any thicker. It’s beautiful.

More art to come in the future…
