FREEEEEEEEE
June 3, 2005
I finally took my exam. I woke up at 5:30am and couldn’t sleep. So I showered and then studied until 7:30, left the house at 8am, and started the exam at 8:30.
Part I: Modern Chinese I think I did OK. There were 10 questions, 2 of which I wasn’t fully comfortable with. I BSed some, and probably got partial credit.
Overall, I think I got a B.
Part II: Composition The topic was really general, like “do some comparisons of American and Chinese language and/or culture, based on your experiences.” Based on educated guessing, I had prepared for the topic “compare and contrast the Chinese and American education systems.” So I was able to adapt that, as well as use some of my particular well-crafted sentences and phrases.
I’m sure there were some mistakes, but my structure was solid and the conclusion is one the Chinese will like (“both have their advantages and disadvantages”), so I probably got a B overall.
So now I’m just waiting to be notified that I’ve been admitted to grad school and they want my tuition money.
