Project Complete
June 27, 2005
I just finished building Club SoundLab’s website. The site has not officially launched yet (so you won’t see much at the website), but when it does, you can bet I’ll be calling attention to it. I’m very proud of what I built, and aside from some minor consultation with Brad and Eden, I did it totally on my own.
All of my knowledge of HTML, CSS, PHP, and Flash is self-taught. And my design sense, well… it just comes outta my imagination, echoes and modifications of all the cool sites I’ve seen over the years. No schooling at all there. So I was a bit self-conscious at first, worried that they wouldn’t like the website I spent hours and hours building. I was totally stoked, then, when Carl flipped out after seeing it. It totally exceeded his expectations. Then today when the other people saw it, they reacted extremely positively as well, even after Carl’s hyping it up before they saw it. I was especially happy to get compliments from the professional designer that designed the logo. It was her logo that basically inspired the design for the entire site.
So all I have to do now is make a few minor typography changes and then I get paid. It’s a huge weight off my shoulders to be done. What’s more, this boosts my confidence in my design skills, and opens the door for possible freelance web design work in the future. I have the beginnings of a portfolio.
