Dream #3: The Iraqi Joke

May 21, 2006

I remembered two dreams from last night, which is kind of impressive. I didn’t write them down at all; I just told myself forcefully: remember these. This is the second one, but I remember it less clearly.

This was a third person perspective dream. I don’t think I was even in it.

There was a group of about three uniformed American soldiers in Iraq, talking to a group of about three Iraqi kids. The kids spoke good English, and were telling the soldiers a joke. The soldiers were following the joke with great interest.

When it came to the punchline, the kid told it in Arabic. The soldiers looked at the kids blankly, but the kids laughed innocently and looked at them with big expectant eyes. Then the soldiers pretended to get it and forced some laughter.

“We’ll have to tell that one to the other guys,” one of them said, no trace of sarcasm in his voice.
