Dream #8: Melody Library
June 6, 2006
I dreamt I was still working for Melody, but in the capacity of some kind of linguistics researcher. I was researching methods of teaching English to kindergarteners, but I was having a hard time finding materials in the really big library I was using (it was like a university library, with multiple floors, similar to ECNU’s or UF’s).
The library and the Melody office seemed to be seemlessly integrated. That is, when I would go back and forth between the two I didn’t seem to actually leave either building.
While I was researching, I found out that Dr. Wehmeyer (my old Japanese teacher from UF) had become the head of academics at Melody. I went over and congratulated her (haha) on the new position, and she was friendly and asked me what I was doing for Melody. I explained that I was doing linguistics research but wasn’t making a lot of progress.
She seemed to be very familiar with the library, so she tried to help me find some resources (again, going from the Melody office to the library was like walking across a big room). She found some kind of flashcards that weren’t very helpful.
Just then Russell showed up in the library. He walked right by me but pretended not to see me. I was like, “Hey! Russell!” and I made some hand motions to the effect of “why are you ignoring me?” He was on his way to meet with some professor or something, but he made some quick comment like, “I don’t know, you tell me. I e-mail everyone, but then suddenly they all stop replying. I don’t know what’s going on.”
