Creating a Game

One of the more interesting things I’ve gotten to do at my job at ChinesePod is to direct the development of a Flash game. The game has to help the gamer learn Chinese, but aside from that, it’s pretty open. The first game I designed started out very simple, importing the user’s Chinese vocabulary list and drilling him throughout an “adventure.” The Flash programmer got really into the game, though, and convinced me to expand it a bit. I am actually fighting him to keep it simple (we’re on a deadline!), but it’s looking quite nice. There are some funny parts about it, too; check out what character makes an appearance:
