On Thursday I got a new MacBook. Here are the specs:

• 13.3” screen, “aluminum” body
• 2.0 GHz processor
• 4 GB RAM, 320 GB HD

The company paid for most of it; I paid for the memory and HD upgrades. Technically it’s a company computer, but it’s not likely that anyone else will ever use it unless I quit this job relatively soon. I’m free to take it wherever I want.

Not until today have I had time to play with it and start customizing and stuff. I’m still getting used to the different keys (man, I used to use CTRL-arrow, Home, and End all the time, and now they’re gone, replaced by Option-arrow, command-up, and command-down). I’m still not used to the keyboard and the trackpad, but I really like some of its features, like two-finger scrolling and four-finger application controls.

Anyway, I’ll be bringing this computer home with me on my trip. I leave Tuesday afternoon (Shanghai time). If you need something from China, now is the time to let me know!
