Lucid Dreaming

June 19, 2010

Lucid Dreaming is something I’ve been interested in ever since high school. The appeal is obvious: imagine having full control of your dreams. Not only can you do whatever you want, but you can make anything happen. The possibilities are mind-boggling.

The typical stages to lucid dreaming are simple:

  1. Train yourself to remember your dreams every night. This usually involves keeping a dream log.
  2. Train yourself to know when you’re dreaming. This usually involves training yourself to do regular “reality checks” which you’ll do out of habit even when dreaming.
  3. Learn to take control of your dreams, but at the same time keep yourself from waking up.

Cool stuff. I’ve made it to Stage 2 before, but that’s a really hard one to get past. I imagine it will take me about a month to get to Stage 2 again.

I’ll be using this blog as my dream log, but I’ll keep most dreams private.
