Isaac is creeping toward toddlerhood
April 7, 2016
Alana is doing fine in kindergarten. Had her “sports day” a few weeks ago, where the kids had athletic competitions. One relay race-type event, funnily enough, involved folding clothes. Here’s a photo:
Isaac had another shot yesterday, and got some measurements taken:
- Height: 83cm (32.7 inches)
- Weight: 13.2kg (29.1 pounds)
- Head: 50cm (19.7 inches)
- gougou (Chinese for “doggy”)
- baobao (Chinese for “hold me”)
- ball (more like “ba”)
- car (more like “ca” or “ga”)
But you can see from his vocabulary what his interests are! He’s a momma’s boy, but he does come toddling to the front door to greet me when I get him from work!
His passive vocabulary is pretty decent. Ellen has taught him to recognize all kinds of animals and fruits and other things in the picture books we have. If you ask him where the “lion” or “apple” or whatever is, he can pretty accurately point them out.
For a while I thought he knew everyone’s name but mine, because if I asked him “where’s Alana?” or “where’s Mommy” or “where’s Ellen?” he would always point at the right person immediately, but when I asked, “where’s daddy?” he just kind of looked at me dumbfounded. Turns out it was because daddy was asking the question “where’s daddy?” and so it’s a pretty damn stupid question. If Alana asked him “where’s daddy?” he would point to me immediately, but then get confused if she asked him, “where’s Alana?” This was unexpected and interesting to me.
Isaac also likes to give kisses. He will deign to cuddle, but only very briefly.
Almost 15 months old…
