Moving
October 30, 2004
Last weekend I went to Hangzhou and hung out with Carl, Alf, Russell, Greg, Lenny… the old Hangzhou crew. It was great to see them.
Part of the reason I made the trip was to talk to Carl (and Lenny a bit) about living arrangements. Carl has resigned from his position at Alibaba in Hangzhou and has decided to finally make the move to Shanghai. (Lenny might too, but later.) This coincides pretty nicely with the end of my lease on December 25.
A very little bit of searching revealed that we could get a nice comfortable place for 4-5000 rmb/month. I’d be paying less than I am now, and living much better. We want to live in the Zhongshan Park (中山公园) area, which is very convenient to East China Normal University (华东师范大学), where I’ll be studying next fall.
We plan to get a three-bedroom place so that we’ll have the option of housing a third person (maybe Lenny?) in the future for even cheaper rent. In the meantime we’ll have a guestroom.
So I’ll be moving soon. My address will change. My phone number will change. And I’ll have a pimped out pad with Carl. Yeeeeeahhh…
