Fatlip Mountain Goats
November 6, 2005
I’m still using Last.fm a lot and really liking it. I plan to incorporate it into this blog pretty soon. One of the obvious benefits of Last.fm is the automated music suggestions you can get by browsing your “musical neighbors.” (You can also easily see what your friends have been listening to.)
By checking out some of the bands that my neighbors on Last.fm are listening to, I found two bands/albums I like recently:
The Mountain Goats: The Sunset Tree (2005)
Indie rock, distinctive vocal style. Not sure what to say about it. I think a lot of people might hate it, but if you like it, you really like it. (Illy - it’s on Absolutely Kosher Records!)

Fatlip: What’s Up Fatlip? (2004)
I saw this described as “underground/independent rap” somewhere. I’m not sure how true that is, but I still kind of like it. It’s not especially original, and Fatlip is obviously a little too full of himself (like any rapper), but there’s something about (a lot of) it I like.
