Long Weekend Over
July 4, 2010
I just had a long, semi-stressful weekend.
We have monthly 2-hour training sessions for the AllSet Learning teachers. Even though I have tons of content to present at the trainings, each 20-minute training module takes about an hour to prepare for (ending in a PowerPoint presentation for each). Most of the time I am too busy during the week to work on the presentations, so I end up spending all day Saturday working on these things.
In addition, since we have all our teachers together for the training sessions, it’s also a good time to do group speaking practice activities (1 hour long). Those also have to be properly planned and prepped.
This past weekend’s training went really well… the material we presented to our teachers was useful and well-received, and the activity we planned was fun and educational for both teachers and participants (two of which will likely become new clients as a result).
Anyway, I feel relieved now that it’s all over and it all went well, but the work week is about to begin again. This doesn’t seem bad at all, though… I’m really looking forward to a lot of the stuff I’ll be doing at “work” this week!
But one thing is for sure… I need to think of a better way to do the trainings. I might have the teachers themselves help present content, or perhaps take a less “teacher-centric” approach. Will be thinking about this…
