Alana at 19+ Months

June 23, 2013

Not too much to report here… recent progress has been pretty incremental, but I suppose I should document it at least a little bit, before I forget everything.

Recently someone asked when Alana’s eyes turned brown. They were still grayish at 12 months, so I’m thinking it was at around 15 months. Glamorous Close-ups in the Car Alana is walking and climbing better, and getting much more confident about handling steps. She’s also getting faster, although still a bit shy of true “running.” She’s not jumping yet, but she’s learning to kick (not violently, yet).

She’s pretty annoying to feed, but not horrible. She’s just very slow, and rejects stuff a lot before eating it. When she’s tired of eating, wants to knock it out of your hand, through it on the floor, or just sweep everything on her high chair tray onto the floor. Fortunately we’re pretty wise to this trick, so we can minimize the amount of food that actually ends up on the floor. Pigging out on Noodles As for language, she’s added a few words recently:

  1. Mama: Chinese version of “Mommy”
  2. Fish: Although she can make an “F” sound, it usually sounds like “hweesh” when she says this one (very cute)
  3. Ball: She uses this one occasionally

I know she’s gotta be learning more Chinese (and she understands a lot), but I’m just not hearing it much. When she babbles, it sounds more like Chinese. She uses the Chinese sentence-final “a” particle sometimes, too. Fun with Daddy No new teeth, either. They’re sure taking their time…
