Family Hooky
July 4, 2013
On Tuesday I was 30 minutes late to work. Alana was just being too adorable, and I couldn’t leave her, considering there was nothing pressing happening at the office that morning.
Here’s Alana that morning with a new mini-guitar SS bought her (it cost like $10):
I felt a little guilty about not going to work, knowing my employees would all be there by 9am. I try not to take “boss privileges.” I generally respect the “be the first one there in the morning and the last one to go home” boss work ethic.
But then I remembered that Alana is never going to be at this precious age again. I can’t allow my job to rob me of these moments.
And then I also remembered: having the freedom to spend more time with my family is one of the main reasons I took the plunge and started my own business in the first place.
So no work guilt. I love my daughter. Life is good.
