New Words (part 2)
July 30, 2013
OK, so not only did I forget some words last time, but the pace has already started picking up.
Last time I forgot:
- egg (mostly clearly distinguished from “ball”)
- baby (this means “baby,” “Alana,” and “child”)
In the past week or two I’ve also heard Alana say:
-
one
-
two
-
four
-
foot
-
eyes
-
beer (and also “this is a beer” — how is she learning this stuff??)
-
xie (Chinese for “shoes”)
-
yeye (Chinese for “paternal grandpa” — maybe she learned this from SS’s mom?)
-
duck (she still prefers “ga-ga” though)
I’m enjoying observing her vocabulary generalizations. She’s pretty good at identifying cats and dogs correctly, but other animals, not so much: -
A cheetah is a cat
-
A tiger is a cat
-
A fox is a dog
-
A horse is a dog
-
A deer is a dog
-
A bear used to be a dog too, but now it’s a bear (progress!)
