Verbal Development (Part 3)

August 9, 2013

I’m realizing now that this series of blog posts could get pretty darn long. Oh well.

Alana is starting to show off what she knows to me every morning when I get up. It’s very cute. Our morning routine goes something like this:

  1. 7:30am SS gets up, plays with Alana
  2. 8:00am SS leaves, I get up and go into the bathroom
  3. 8:10am I start getting dressed, and Alana busts into my room
  4. 8:30am I leave for work

So between 8:10am and 8:30am every morning, I play with Alana. It starts almost every day with her giving me a rundown of everything she knows how to say that she can think of: “Daddy… Mommy… Baby… Yaya… Foot… One… Two… Ball… Fish… etc.”

She surprised me today by pointing to my two feet at the same time and saying, “two foot.”

She also pointed at me and said, “this is a daddy,” which was cute. She’s getting pretty good at the “this is a ____” sentence pattern. (I thought she was supposed to be learning single words, followed by two-word sentences?)

Some other new words she knows include:

* hot * cold * nose * hair * out (meaning “go out”) * please (pronounced “peas”) * cat * cow * flower * hua (Chinese for “flower”) * pad (meaning “iPad”)

Last weekend we chinchilla-sat. He was a really nice little critter, never biting. Good for our not-so-gentle-with-animals toddler! Pictures of that: Chinchilla Time! Chinchilla Time! Here are some pictures from church, taken by SS a few weeks ago: Praying at Church Praying at Church
