Rainbow Bone
October 12, 2015
So tonight Alana and I had dinner together at Wagas. We had a conversation that went something like this:
“Daddy, I don’t want to go to school tomorrow.”
“Then where do you want to go?”
“To another place.”
“What place?”
“Rainbow… Bone.”
“Rainbow Bone? What’s that? A place with a bunch of bones?”
“Yeah.”
“What kind of bones? Elephant bones? Whale bones?”
“No, whale teeth!”
“Oh, I see.”
“But there are also elephants there. And they have black in their eyes, and also red, and yellow, and purple, and green…”
“So… elephants with rainbow eyes?”
“Yes, crazy rainbow eyes!”
“OK, so why do you want to go there?”
“They have toys and fun things to play with, and it’s a restaurant.”
“Rainbow Bone is a restaurant?”
“Yeah.”
“OK, so where is it? How do we get there?”
“It’s not on Earth. It’s on another Earth.”
“You mean another planet?”
“Yeah.”
“Like Mars?”
“No, really far away. It’s on Marth.”
“Marth? What is that? The name of the planet?”
“No, the name of the country it’s in.”
“OK, so if Rainbow Bone is on another planet, in the country of Marth, how are we going to get you there?”
“We can just take Bus 80-55.”
“We can take Bus 80-55 to another planet?”
“Yeah.”
“I bet it takes a long time to take a bus to another planet. Like 2 hours?”
“Yeah.”
“OK, well, I have bad news for you. We have a strict policy of no interplanetary travel on weekdays, so that means no Rainbow Bone tomorrow. You need to go to school still.”
