Cyborg Roaches
December 2, 2004
Recently Daily Dinosaur Comics mentioned cyborg cockroaches which can be remote controlled by humans. That is kinda scary.
The thing is, the cartoonist wasn’t just making it up. Just a little bit of Googling turned up this article: Japan’s latest innovation: a remote-control roach. (Yes, there’s a picture.) Japanese scientists developed this technology using American cockroaches. Symbolism there? Hmmm…
Then there’s also the Cockroach-Controlled Robot. It’s basically a cockroach stuck to a trackball. When the roach scurries his little legs the motorized cart he’s on moves forward. Kinda cool. But still creepy.
